“in the absence of stars” out now
For the past decade, Ed Carlsen has consistently produced music distinguished by his signature blend of electronic beats and dreamy soundscapes.
Born Edoardo Pucci in Sardinia (IT), he debuted on the Canadian label Moderna Records in 2016 with his highly praised first album “The Journey Tapes” and two EPs. From there onwards, Ed brought his sound to renowned international platforms such as Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Müpa Budapest and Palac Akropolis in Prague.
Ed’s sophomore album ‘Grains of Gold’ (2021) marked the start of a collaboration with Sony Masterworks’ latest instrumental imprint XXIM Records. His third EP ‘Gravity’ followed up in 2022, together with a soundtrack commission for the Amazon Prime documentary film ‘Ben Stokes – Phoenix from the Ashes’, produced by Sam Mendes and featuring the filmmaker’s insight on Stokes’ life story and career as an international cricket champion. Over the years, the innate tendency for Ed’s music to pair up with film and visual work brought several partnerships and features with media outlets such as BBC, Netflix, and various Scandinavian television networks.
2023 is a pivotal year for the Sardinian artist, bringing a distinct change of pace and new insights into sound. Ed’s forthcoming EP ‘in the absence of stars” (out November 10th), produced by long-time friend and collaborator Marco Caricola, will portray the first milestone in this new journey of self-discovery.
